COACHES

Head Coach - Elise Viljoen

After attending Hoërskool Sentraal in Bloemfontein, Elise qualified as a Pharmacist at the NWU PUKKE in 1989. During this time she competed for the Free State and Western-Transvaal in athletics, cross country and road running. The 10km was her favourite event with a personal best of 35:52. In 2018 Elise qualified with distinctions as an ASA Level 3 National Coach.

During 2023 Elise represented ASA as the coach to the World Althletics road running champs in Riga, Latvia.

"I believe my role as a coach is to teach primary school athletes the basics of athletics in an enjoyable and safe environment.

My job as a high school coach is to encourage athletes to train and participate; and to teach them the discipline and hard work of distance running. I also need to identify the athletes with real talent and the will to perform and prepare them for senior athletics.

Senior athletes are supported and encourage to reach the highest level possible".

Assistant Coach
